Healing Ourselves, Healing Our World
In spite of, or perhaps in response to, the many pressing challenges of our times, a movement is afoot. It is alive in the hearts, spirits and actions of millions of people, of every religious, economic and cultural background, who are rising up to make a difference with their lives. This movement integrates inner growth with social change, as we learn to bring healing and consciousness to our own lives while we work for thriving, just and sustainable ways of life for all.
Whether we carry a full heart or a breaking heart, whether our lives feel abundant or bereft, each of us carries within us the capacity for love, and a need to make a contribution in the world we share. What if each of the histories, wounds, and blessings of our lives has prepared us perfectly for our unique part to play in healing? What if we were born for this time, and for the gifts that will emerge through our lives? How then might we serve?
This workshop is for human beings who care, who want to create congruency between their lives and their values, and who are seeking to grow in wisdom, faith, compassion and freedom. It is a place to join kindred spirits on the path of healing and awakening, and to explore how we can unleash all that we have, and all that we are, on behalf of all that we love.
Join renowned facilitator, speaker, and inspirational catalyst Ocean Robbins for a transformational retreat to explore our stories, our values, our healing journeys, and our contributions. Using circle sharing, facilitated exercises, artistic and creative expression, reflection, playful games, and the building of heartful community, we will access the sacred, take risks, hold one another’s truth with love, and open up the links between our journeys of internal, interpersonal, and global transformation.

Living With Purpose and Passion in Challenging Times
In spite of, or perhaps in response to, the many pressing challenges of our times, a movement is afoot. It is alive in the hearts, spirits and actions of millions of people, of every religious, economic and cultural background, who are rising up to make a difference with their lives. Ocean Robbins has spent more than half his life collaborating with some of the outstanding leaders of our times, and working at the forefront of worldwide movements towards a thriving, just and sustainable future. This presentation is rich with stories of inspiration from his learning journey; reflections on the pivotal moment we face as a species; and an invitation to listen to the call of our destinies, that we may be worthy of the trust placed in us by future generations.
Our Stories, Our Values
This workshop will create an opportunity for participants to explore and share some of the defining moments of our lives, and what has made us who we are today. We will also look at how our life histories have shaped how we see the world, what we love and are committed to, and the gifts that are ours to give.
Money, Values, History and Legacy
Many of us are unconsciously ruled by messages about life and money that we have inherited from our families and from our society. This interactive workshop will explore and help us more deeply understand “what makes us tick”, and help us to create greater congruency between what we believe in and how we live.
Transformational Philanthropy: The Next Generation
Are you stepping into wealth and looking at how to leverage your giving for maximal impact? Are you interested in doing things differently, creatively, with an entrepreneurial spirit? Would you like to explore how money can move in ways that build real and lasting partnerships, and to engage in grantmaking in a way that empowers communities and social entrepreneurs to be even more effective, not bound by wads of paperwork and embroiled in unexamined and unhealthy power dynamics? This workshop will look at creative strategies and new ways of giving that are being pioneered, in many cases, by young people. We will explore how philanthropy can be fresh, new, and responsive to the unique gifts we bring and the particular opportunities of our live and times.
“Ocean gave an insightful and inspiring keynote that was right on target with our student’s needs. His style is both personal and interactive, allowing him to connect deeply with a large audience of college students and get important messages through. The staff at UC Berkeley and I can’t recommend him highly enough.”
— Darian Rodriguez-Heyman, Economics of Philanthropy Class, UC Berkeley Haas School of Business
Leveraging Privilege for Social Change
What would life be like if we could unleash all that we have and all that we are on behalf of all that we love? This workshop explores the privileges and wealth that exist in our lives and how we can use them as leverage to have a bigger impact in making a positive social impact. This workshop provides a safe environment in which to look at some of the following questions:
Privilege: What does privilege mean to each of us, and how does our unique journey with it affect who we are and how we impact the world? How can we recognize and claim the responsibilities, burdens and blessings we carry, and respond in a healthy way to their implications in a wider social context of unequal levels of opportunity? What is our influence and depth of power in a global context?
Leveraging: How can we have maximum impact? How can we use our lives, connections/ relationships, opportunities and resources to live healthy lives and work collaboratively for a better world?
Social Change: What’s happening in the world? What are we seeing, and what do we want to shift? What does it take to create real and lasting change? How can we deepen our understanding of the realities of our times, and develop, build and implement effective models of transformation?
Our Place In It All: What are our unique experiences, struggles and dreams? How can we face the challenges of our times without being overwhelmed, and without turning numb? What would it look like to bring our lives and our resources into alignment with our values? How do we shed guilt, and the cultural baggage around wealth, and find a healthy relationship to our privileges that serves our purpose and contribution?
Building on YES!’s hugely successful Leveraging Privilege for Social Change program, which has held 7 week-long “Jams” for groups of 30 privileged young leaders and held several intergenerational retreats and events, this workshop provides an opportunity to explore values, dreams, and defining moments in our life journeys with a supportive community of peers.
“Thank you for being such a skilled and inspiring workshop leader at the ‘Investing On Your Values’ conference. (The workshop you led) was the most highly rated workshop in participant evaluations. I was very impressed with how expertly you led the discussion.”
